MARA Professional College Beranang (KPMB) was formerly know as MARA Institute of Commerce (IPM), which was established in May 1977. Its first rented premise was at the second floor of Bangunan Sing Hoe Motor, Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. At that time, it had an enrolment of 100 students and 4 lecturers. In August 1982, moved to a new building at Bandar Tun Abdul Razak, Cheras. This new building had hostel facilities, which accommodated 400 students. In 1982, IPM was placed under MARA Secondary Education Division (BPM).
Later in 1984, MARA Commercial Education Division was formed and IPM was put under this new wing.Following the relocation of MARA Headquarters to its new building in February 1986, IPM occupied the vacant floors in the MARA old building at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.In February 1993,IPM rented a new premise at Wisma Sachdev and Wisma Thakurdas, which are located at Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur. Finally, in June 1998, KPM moved to its permanent twenty-five acre campus located at Lot 2333, Jalan Seremban / Kajang, 43700 Beranang, Selangor.
In April 1999, MARA Institute of Commerce (IPM) changed its name to MARA Professional College (KPM) in line with MARA's vision of providing professional courses to students.
Initially, courses based on syllabuses of London Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) were offered. Besides LCCI courses, a wide range of courses such as Matriculation ICSA, Tourist Guide, Certificate in Reservation & Ticketing and Certificate of Company Secretaryship were introduced in late 1980's until 1990's.In June 1999, KPM ran its first own study programmes with an enrolment of 56 students for Diploma in Accountancy courses and 84 students Diploma in Business Studies courses. These programmes obtain their accreditation from the National Accreditation Council or "Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN)" in 2001
KPM Beranang added another new course in October 1999, which is Higher National Diploma in Computing (Business Information Technology). This is a franchised programme from Edexcel Foundation formerly known as Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) of United Kingdom. This course attracts many students due to the rapid expansion of computer usage nowadays.
At present, KPM Beranang offers four courses, namely
a. Diploma in Accountancy (DIA)
b. Diploma in Business Studies (DBS)
c. Higher National Diploma n Computing (Business Information Technology)-(HND-BIT)
d. Diploma in Agro-Business (DAB) .
